॥ श्रीरामरक्षास्तोत्रम् ॥
श्रीगणेशायनम: ।
अस्य श्रीरामरक्षास्तोत्रमन्त्रस्य ।
बुधकौशिक ऋषि: ।
श्रीसीतारामचंद्रोदेवता ।
अनुष्टुप् छन्द: । सीता शक्ति: ।
श्रीमद्हनुमान् कीलकम् ।
श्रीसीतारामचंद्रप्रीत्यर्थे जपे विनियोग: ॥
॥ अथ ध्यानम् ॥
ध्यायेदाजानुबाहुं धृतशरधनुषं बद्धपद्मासनस्थं
पीतं वासो वसानं नवकमलदलस्पर्धिनेत्रं प्रसन्नम् ।
वामाङ्कारूढसीतामुखकमलमिलल्लोचनं नीरदाभं
नानालङ्कारदीप्तं दधतमुरुजटामण्डलं रामचन्द्रम् ॥
Meditate on that tall, long-armed, dark-skinned, adorned with various ornaments and matted-haired Shri Ram, who is holding a bow and arrow, seated in the posture of a tied lotus seat, wearing yellow clothes, whose luminous eyes compete with the petals of a new lotus, whose face is joined with the lotus face of Sita, situated on the left.
॥ इति ध्यानम् ॥
चरितं रघुनाथस्य शतकोटिप्रविस्तरम् ।
एकैकमक्षरं पुंसां महापातकनाशनम् ॥१॥
The life of Shri Raghunathji is vast, spread across hundred crore verses. Every single word of it destroys great sins.
ध्यात्वा नीलोत्पलश्यामं रामं राजीवलोचनम् ।
जानकीलक्ष्मणोपेतं जटामुकुटमण्डितम् ॥२॥
Remember Lord Shri Ram who is dark complexioned, has lotus eyes, is adorned with a crown of matted hair, along with Janaki and Lakshman.
सासितूणधनुर्बाणपाणिं नक्तंचरान्तकम् ।
स्वलीलया जगत्त्रातुमाविर्भूतमजं विभुम् ॥३॥
Remembering Shri Ram, who is unborn and omnipresent, who incarnated with sword, quiver, bow and arrow in his hands to kill the demons and protect the world through his divine acts.
रामरक्षां पठेत्प्राज्ञः पापघ्नीं सर्वकामदाम् ।
शिरो मे राघवः पातु भालं दशरथात्मजः ॥४॥
I recite the Ram Raksha Stotra, which fulfills all desires and destroys sins. May Raghava protect my head and the son of Dasharath protect my forehead.
कौसल्येयो दृशौ पातु विश्वामित्रप्रियः श्रुती ।
घ्राणं पातु मखत्राता मुखं सौमित्रिवत्सलः ॥५॥
May Kaushalya's son protect my eyes, Vishwamitra's beloved protect my ears, the protector of yajnas protect my nose and Sumitra's beloved protect my mouth.
जिह्वां विद्यानिधिः पातु कण्ठं भरतवन्दितः ।
स्कन्धौ दिव्यायुधः पातु भुजौ भग्नेशकार्मुकः ॥६॥
May the ocean of knowledge protect my tongue, may Lord Ram, worshipped by Bharat, protect my throat, may he who bears divine weapons protect my shoulders and may he, who broke Lord Shiva's bow, protect my arms.
करौ सीतापतिः पातु हृदयं जामदग्न्यजित् ।
मध्यं पातु खरध्वंसी नाभिं जाम्बवदाश्रयः ॥७॥
May Sita's husband Shri Ram protect my hands, may the conqueror of Jamadagni's son (Parashuram) protect my heart, may the destroyer of Khara protect my waist and may the protector of Jambavan protect my navel.
सुग्रीवेशः कटी पातु सक्थिनी हनुमत्प्रभुः ।
ऊरू रघूत्तमः पातु रक्षःकुलविनाशकृत् ॥८॥
May the lord of Sugriva protect my hips, may the lord of Hanuman protect my thighs and may the best of Raghukul, the destroyer of the demon clan, protect my legs.
जानुनी सेतुकृत्पातु जङ्घे दशमुखान्तकः ।
पादौ बिभीषणश्रीदः पातु रामोऽखिलं वपुः ॥९॥
May the builder of the bridge protect my knees, the slayer of Ravana protect my shins, the one who bestowed prosperity on Vibhishan protect my feet, and may Ram protect my entire body.
एतां रामबलोपेतां रक्षां यः सुकृती पठेत् ।
स चिरायुः सुखी पुत्री विजयी विनयी भवेत् ॥१०॥
The devotee who does auspicious deeds and recites this stotra with devotion and faith, combined with the power of Lord Ram, becomes long-lived, happy, blessed with children, victorious and humble.
पातालभूतलव्योमचारिणश्छद्मचारिणः ।
न द्रष्टुमपि शक्तास्ते रक्षितं रामनामभिः ॥११॥
Those beings who roam the underworld, the earth and the sky, or who move about in disguise, cannot even see a human being protected by the name of Ram.
रामेति रामभद्रेति रामचन्द्रेति वा स्मरन् ।
नरो न लिप्यते पापैर्भुक्तिं मुक्तिं च विन्दति ॥१२॥
A devotee who remembers the names Ram, Rambhadra and Ramchandra does not get tainted by sins; not only that, he certainly attains both enjoyment and salvation.
जगज्जैत्रैकमन्त्रेण रामनाम्नाभिरक्षितम् ।
यः कण्ठे धारयेत्तस्य करस्थाः सर्वसिद्धयः ॥१३॥
He who wears this stotra, protected by the name of Ram which conquers the world, around his neck, attains all the siddhis at hand.
वज्रपञ्जरनामेदं यो रामकवचं स्मरेत् ।
अव्याहताज्ञः सर्वत्र लभते जयमङ्गलम् ॥१४॥
The person who remembers this Ram armour called Vajrapanjar, his commands are never disobeyed and he always attains victory and auspiciousness everywhere.
आदिष्टवान् यथा स्वप्ने रामरक्षामिमां हरः ।
तथा लिखितवान् प्रातः प्रबुद्धो बुधकौशिकः ॥१५॥
Lord Shankar had instructed this Ram Raksha Stotra to Rishi Budhakaushik in his dream; he wrote it down exactly as it was, upon waking in the morning.
आरामः कल्पवृक्षाणां विरामः सकलापदाम् ।
अभिरामस्त्रिलोकानां रामः श्रीमान् स नः प्रभुः ॥१६॥
The one who is a resting place like a garden of Kalpa trees, who removes all afflictions and who is beautiful in all the three worlds, that Shriman Ram is our Lord.
तरुणौ रूपसंपन्नौ सुकुमारौ महाबलौ ।
पुण्डरीकविशालाक्षौ चीरकृष्णाजिनाम्बरौ ॥१७॥
Who are young, handsome, delicate and mighty, whose eyes are as large and beautiful as lotuses, and who wear garments like sages and the skin of a black deer.
फलमूलाशिनौ दान्तौ तापसौ ब्रह्मचारिणौ ।
पुत्रौ दशरथस्यैतौ भ्रातरौ रामलक्ष्मणौ ॥१८॥
May the two brothers Ram and Lakshman, sons of Dasharath, who live on fruits and roots, who are disciplined ascetics and celibates, protect us.
शरण्यौ सर्वसत्त्वानां श्रेष्ठौ सर्वधनुष्मताम् ।
रक्षःकुलनिहन्तारौ त्रायेतां नो रघूत्तमौ ॥१९॥
May such a mighty pair, refuge of all living beings, the best among all archers, and capable of completely destroying the clans of demons, that best of the Raghu dynasty, protect us.
आत्तसज्जधनुषाविषुस्पृशावक्षयाशुगनिषङ्गसङ्गिनौ ।
रक्षणाय मम रामलक्ष्मणावग्रतः पथि सदैव गच्छताम् ॥२०॥
May Ram and Lakshman, holding their bows, touching the arrows, and carrying quivers filled with inexhaustible arrows, walk before me always, to protect me.
सन्नद्धः कवची खड्गी चापबाणधरो युवा ।
गच्छन्मनोरथोऽस्माकं रामः पातु सलक्ष्मणः ॥२१॥
May Lord Ram, always ready, wearing armour, carrying sword, bow and arrow and in his youth, walk ahead along with Lakshman and protect us.
रामो दाशरथिः शूरो लक्ष्मणानुचरो बली ।
काकुत्स्थः पुरुषः पूर्णः कौसल्येयो रघूत्तमः ॥२२॥
God is known by the names Ram, son of Dasharath, brave, accompanied by the mighty Lakshman, Kakutstha, the supreme being, complete in every way, son of Kaushalya and the best of the Raghu dynasty.
वेदान्तवेद्यो यज्ञेशः पुराणपुरुषोत्तमः ।
जानकीवल्लभः श्रीमानप्रमेयपराक्रमः ॥२३॥
He is also known by names such as knower of Vedanta, lord of yajnas, the eternal supreme being, the beloved of Janaki, the glorious one and of immeasurable valour.
इत्येतानि जपेन्नित्यं मद्भक्तः श्रद्धयान्वितः ।
अश्वमेधाधिकं पुण्यं संप्राप्नोति न संशयः ॥२४॥
One who chants these names daily with devotion and faith definitely attains merit greater than that of the Ashwamedha Yagya, without doubt.
रामं दूर्वादलश्यामं पद्माक्षं पीतवाससम् ।
स्तुवन्ति नामभिर्दिव्यैर्न ते संसारिणो नराः ॥२५॥
Those who praise Lord Ram, who is dark in complexion like durva grass, has lotus eyes and wears yellow clothes, with the above divine names, do not get trapped in the cycle of the material world.
रामं लक्ष्मणपूर्वजं रघुवरं सीतापतिं सुन्दरं
काकुत्स्थं करुणार्णवं गुणनिधिं विप्रप्रियं धार्मिकम् ।
राजेन्द्रं सत्यसन्धं दशरथतनयं श्यामलं शान्तमूर्तिं
वन्दे लोकाभिरामं रघुकुलतिलकं राघवं रावणारिम् ॥२६॥
I worship Lord Ram, elder brother of Lakshman, best of the Raghu dynasty, husband of Sita, handsome, belonging to the Kakutstha lineage, ocean of compassion, storehouse of virtues, beloved of Brahmins, knower of dharma, king of kings, true to his word, son of Dasharath, dark-hued, an embodiment of peace, beautiful to all the worlds, the crown jewel of the Raghu dynasty and the enemy of Ravana.
रामाय रामभद्राय रामचन्द्राय वेधसे ।
रघुनाथाय नाथाय सीतायाः पतये नमः ॥२७॥
I worship Ram, Rambhadra, Ramchandra, the creator, the lord of Raghu's dynasty, our protector and the husband of Sita.
श्रीराम राम रघुनन्दन राम राम
श्रीराम राम भरताग्रज राम राम ।
श्रीराम राम रणकर्कश राम राम
श्रीराम राम शरणं भव राम राम ॥२८॥
O Lord Ram, son of Raghunandan! O elder brother of Bharat! O brave warrior in battle! O Lord Ram, please be my shelter.
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ मनसा स्मरामि
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ वचसा गृणामि ।
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ शिरसा नमामि
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥२९॥
With a concentrated mind I remember the feet of Shri Ramchandraji, and with my words I praise them. Bowing my head to the feet of Shri Ramchandra, I take refuge in them with full devotion.
माता रामो मत्पिता रामचन्द्रः
स्वामी रामो मत्सखा रामचन्द्रः ।
सर्वस्वं मे रामचन्द्रो दयालु-
र्नान्यं जाने नैव जाने न जाने ॥३०॥
Shri Ram is my mother, my father, my master and my friend. Thus, the merciful Shri Ram is my everything; I know none other than him.
दक्षिणे लक्ष्मणो यस्य वामे तु जनकात्मजा ।
पुरतो मारुतिर्यस्य तं वन्दे रघुनन्दनम् ॥३१॥
I worship that Raghunathji, on whose right side stands Lakshman, on whose left side is Janaki, and in front of whom stands Hanuman.
लोकाभिरामं रणरङ्गधीरं राजीवनेत्रं रघुवंशनाथम् ।
कारुण्यरूपं करुणाकरन्तं श्रीरामचन्द्रं शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥३२॥
I take refuge in Shri Ramchandra, who is beautiful to all the worlds, brave in battle, lotus-eyed, the lord of the Raghu dynasty, the embodiment of compassion and the giver of mercy.
मनोजवं मारुततुल्यवेगं जितेन्द्रियं बुद्धिमतां वरिष्ठम् ।
वातात्मजं वानरयूथमुख्यं श्रीरामदूतं शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥३३॥
I take refuge in that messenger of Lord Ram, the son of the wind god, whose speed matches the mind and the wind, who has fully controlled his senses and is the foremost among the wise.
कूजन्तं रामरामेति मधुरं मधुराक्षरम् ।
आरुह्य कविताशाखां वन्दे वाल्मीकिकोकिलम् ॥३४॥
I worship the cuckoo in the form of Valmiki, seated on the branch of poetry, singing the sweet name of "Ram-Ram" in sweet syllables.
आपदामपहर्तारं दातारं सर्वसम्पदाम् ।
लोकाभिरामं श्रीरामं भूयो भूयो नमाम्यहम् ॥३५॥
I bow again and again to Lord Ram, beloved of and beautiful to this world, who removes all calamities and bestows all prosperity.
भर्जनं भवबीजानामर्जनं सुखसम्पदाम् ।
तर्जनं यमदूतानां रामरामेति गर्जनम् ॥३६॥
Chanting "Ram-Ram" burns away the seeds of worldly suffering and brings happiness and prosperity; the messengers of death are always terrified by the roar of "Ram-Ram."
रामो राजमणिः सदा विजयते रामं रमेशं भजे
रामेणाभिहता निशाचरचमू रामाय तस्मै नमः ।
रामान्नास्ति परायणं परतरं रामस्य दासोऽस्म्यहं
रामे चित्तलयः सदा भवतु मे भो राम मामुद्धर ॥३७॥
Shri Ram, the jewel among kings, always attains victory; I worship Shri Ram, the husband of Lakshmi. I bow to Shri Ram, the destroyer of the entire army of demons. There is no refuge greater than Ram; I am the servant of that beloved Lord. May my mind remain ever absorbed in Ram. O Lord Ram, please deliver me.
राम रामेति रामेति रमे रामे मनोरमे ।
सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं रामनाम वरानने ॥३८॥
(Lord Shiva said to Parvati –) O beautiful one! The name of Ram is equal to the Vishnu Sahasranama. I always praise Ram and delight in his name.
इति श्रीबुधकौशिकविरचितं श्रीरामरक्षास्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
Thus concludes the Shri Ram Raksha Stotra composed by Sage Budhakaushik.

राजेन्द्रं सत्यसन्धं दशरथतनयं श्यामलं शान्तमूर्तिं
वन्दे लोकाभिरामं रघुकुलतिलकं राघवं रावणारिम् ॥२६॥
I worship Lord Ram, elder brother of Lakshman, best of the Raghu dynasty, husband of Sita, handsome, belonging to the Kakutstha lineage, ocean of compassion, storehouse of virtues, beloved of Brahmins, knower of dharma, king of kings, true to his word, son of Dasharath, dark-hued, an embodiment of peace, beautiful to all the worlds, the crown jewel of the Raghu dynasty and the enemy of Ravana.
रामाय रामभद्राय रामचन्द्राय वेधसे ।
रघुनाथाय नाथाय सीतायाः पतये नमः ॥२७॥
I worship Ram, Rambhadra, Ramchandra, the creator, the lord of Raghu's dynasty, our protector and the husband of Sita.
श्रीराम राम रघुनन्दन राम राम
श्रीराम राम भरताग्रज राम राम ।
श्रीराम राम रणकर्कश राम राम
श्रीराम राम शरणं भव राम राम ॥२८॥
O Lord Ram, son of Raghunandan! O elder brother of Bharat! O brave warrior in battle! O Lord Ram, please be my shelter.
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ मनसा स्मरामि
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ वचसा गृणामि ।
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ शिरसा नमामि
श्रीरामचन्द्रचरणौ शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥२९॥
With a concentrated mind I remember the feet of Shri Ramchandraji, and with my words I praise them. Bowing my head to the feet of Shri Ramchandra, I take refuge in them with full devotion.
माता रामो मत्पिता रामचन्द्रः
स्वामी रामो मत्सखा रामचन्द्रः ।
सर्वस्वं मे रामचन्द्रो दयालु-
र्नान्यं जाने नैव जाने न जाने ॥३०॥
Shri Ram is my mother, my father, my master and my friend. Thus, the merciful Shri Ram is my everything; I know none other than him.
दक्षिणे लक्ष्मणो यस्य वामे तु जनकात्मजा ।
पुरतो मारुतिर्यस्य तं वन्दे रघुनन्दनम् ॥३१॥
I worship that Raghunathji, on whose right side stands Lakshman, on whose left side is Janaki, and in front of whom stands Hanuman.
लोकाभिरामं रणरङ्गधीरं राजीवनेत्रं रघुवंशनाथम् ।
कारुण्यरूपं करुणाकरन्तं श्रीरामचन्द्रं शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥३२॥
I take refuge in Shri Ramchandra, who is beautiful to all the worlds, brave in battle, lotus-eyed, the lord of the Raghu dynasty, the embodiment of compassion and the giver of mercy.
मनोजवं मारुततुल्यवेगं जितेन्द्रियं बुद्धिमतां वरिष्ठम् ।
वातात्मजं वानरयूथमुख्यं श्रीरामदूतं शरणं प्रपद्ये ॥३३॥
I take refuge in that messenger of Lord Ram, the son of the wind god, whose speed matches the mind and the wind, who has fully controlled his senses and is the foremost among the wise.
कूजन्तं रामरामेति मधुरं मधुराक्षरम् ।
आरुह्य कविताशाखां वन्दे वाल्मीकिकोकिलम् ॥३४॥
I worship the cuckoo in the form of Valmiki, seated on the branch of poetry, singing the sweet name of "Ram-Ram" in sweet syllables.
आपदामपहर्तारं दातारं सर्वसम्पदाम् ।
लोकाभिरामं श्रीरामं भूयो भूयो नमाम्यहम् ॥३५॥
I bow again and again to Lord Ram, beloved of and beautiful to this world, who removes all calamities and bestows all prosperity.
भर्जनं भवबीजानामर्जनं सुखसम्पदाम् ।
तर्जनं यमदूतानां रामरामेति गर्जनम् ॥३६॥
Chanting "Ram-Ram" burns away the seeds of worldly suffering and brings happiness and prosperity; the messengers of death are always terrified by the roar of "Ram-Ram."
रामो राजमणिः सदा विजयते रामं रमेशं भजे
रामेणाभिहता निशाचरचमू रामाय तस्मै नमः ।
रामान्नास्ति परायणं परतरं रामस्य दासोऽस्म्यहं
रामे चित्तलयः सदा भवतु मे भो राम मामुद्धर ॥३७॥
Shri Ram, the jewel among kings, always attains victory; I worship Shri Ram, the husband of Lakshmi. I bow to Shri Ram, the destroyer of the entire army of demons. There is no refuge greater than Ram; I am the servant of that beloved Lord. May my mind remain ever absorbed in Ram. O Lord Ram, please deliver me.
राम रामेति रामेति रमे रामे मनोरमे ।
सहस्रनाम तत्तुल्यं रामनाम वरानने ॥३८॥
(Lord Shiva said to Parvati –) O beautiful one! The name of Ram is equal to the Vishnu Sahasranama. I always praise Ram and delight in his name.
इति श्रीबुधकौशिकविरचितं श्रीरामरक्षास्तोत्रं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
Thus concludes the Shri Ram Raksha Stotra composed by Sage Budhakaushik.
